Glasses for work

When asked if I would ever get lasik I resoundingly say no, I just love wearing glasses. I love the fact that I have a whole other look available to me just by putting on a pair of frames.

The last pair of glasses I got were these, from Warby Parker, the perfect subtle cat eye frames.

It doesn't hurt that I  think that glasses do give you that I am a professional look, which is just an added bonus for me.

What to wear to work? Reiss.

One great thing about being in a new city is all the 'new' brands that I wasn't necessarily exposed to in the States.

While Reiss is available in the US, a newer addition at Bloomingdale's might I add, it is not a ubiquitous work wear brand. In the UK, where it is very much an established brand, it is indeed a women's go to for her work wardrobe. Here are some of the new looks from their S/S '14 campaign, and a few things from their outgoing F/W line, which are now on SALE.

Oh and it doesn't hurt that the Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) wears Reiss from time to time. You know, like that time she met Michelle Obama....

Loafers. My new 'go to' commuter shoe

I was determined to bring back the penny loafer when I bought mine last summer. Much to my pleasant surprise I have seen a resurgence of loafers for Spring 2014 and I have to say I couldn't be happier. With the ground thawing out I am starting to wear mine again, but loafers don't have to be warm weather shoes. In case spring hasn't sprung where you are you can certainly pair these with sock. With socks, or without, with a penny in them or not, these might be your new all season go to commuting shoe!

Trending. See thru shoulders

See thru shoulders have been popping up here and there for a few seasons now. In the Fall 2014 shows they were still going strong, like here and here, from Rebecca Taylor. As we shift into spring, and want to show a little more skin, see thru shoulders are the perfect transitional wardrobe item. You can embrace spring without being so crazy as to expose your legs.

An added bonus is that you know we'll all still be sporting see thru shoulders into the fall and winter of 2014/15, if the Fall 2014 collections are any indication.

Taking your lunch to work

Continuing on the theme of being healthy, taking your lunch to work is a great option and one that I am all for. Following up on my post from Monday, you can also find great lunch and snack totes for those of us on the go via A Fine Choice, here, specifically.

My problem is that I want to take my lunch to work but I almost always buy my lunch. For those of you that find yourself in the same situation, but who may want to just look like you are bringing your lunch, these are my new obsessions.

This isn't something I would be carrying to a work meeting or if I were out with a client but I want to use this all the time I am not in those situations particularly on the weekends. I just love this bag so much that I couldn't NOT share it.  Buen provecho.

Being healthy AND green at work

So we all know we should drink more water. Drinking water before a meal helps you feel more full, which hopefully means I can cut down on my constant snacking that has left me feeling like a stuffed sausage as of late. I have just ordered a stainless steel, BPA free, water bottle. This is exactly the kind of thing I want to keep at my desk, in my bag, with me at the gym, well everywhere really. Not only does it keep me hydrated but I am also not throwing away a paper cup every time I need a drink of water or buying an endless supply of bottled water.

A Fine Choice, an enterprise started by a mother of three I know here in London, with an eye for good design and who is eco conscious in all aspects of her life, has a fabulous selection of green products for your on the go lifestyle. Lunch totes and reusable bags are just some of the other options alongside stainless steel, BPA free, water bottles in a wide range of colors. A Fine Choice also ships internationally so even if you are not based in the UK or Europe please check it out!

Here is to hoping that spring is upon us soon, which usually means lighter meals, more exercise and just all around feeling more healthy. Till then I love that I can make a difference with 'green' options and by supporting another female entrepreneur!
