Peter Jensen. Work Wear Separates

This past Friday I attended a talk at the Victoria & Albert Museum, featuring fashion designer Peter Jensen and Julie Verhoeven, the artist and illustrator. I had been captivated by Peter's Spring 2014 Ready To Wear Collection from when I first saw it late last year but wasn't sure it fit with The Work Look but I certainly could not pass on an opportunity like this.

Peter Jensen's collections are based on female 'muses' with Spring 2014 inspired by Diana Ross. His collections are filled with whimsy and beauty, inspired by real women who live life by their own rules, for better or worse. That is the kind of woman I want to surround myself with, in this case, through Peter Jensen's eyes.

Glasses for work

When asked if I would ever get lasik I resoundingly say no, I just love wearing glasses. I love the fact that I have a whole other look available to me just by putting on a pair of frames.

The last pair of glasses I got were these, from Warby Parker, the perfect subtle cat eye frames.

It doesn't hurt that I  think that glasses do give you that I am a professional look, which is just an added bonus for me.

Being healthy AND green at work

So we all know we should drink more water. Drinking water before a meal helps you feel more full, which hopefully means I can cut down on my constant snacking that has left me feeling like a stuffed sausage as of late. I have just ordered a stainless steel, BPA free, water bottle. This is exactly the kind of thing I want to keep at my desk, in my bag, with me at the gym, well everywhere really. Not only does it keep me hydrated but I am also not throwing away a paper cup every time I need a drink of water or buying an endless supply of bottled water.

A Fine Choice, an enterprise started by a mother of three I know here in London, with an eye for good design and who is eco conscious in all aspects of her life, has a fabulous selection of green products for your on the go lifestyle. Lunch totes and reusable bags are just some of the other options alongside stainless steel, BPA free, water bottles in a wide range of colors. A Fine Choice also ships internationally so even if you are not based in the UK or Europe please check it out!

Here is to hoping that spring is upon us soon, which usually means lighter meals, more exercise and just all around feeling more healthy. Till then I love that I can make a difference with 'green' options and by supporting another female entrepreneur!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Have a very wonderful Christmas and New Year! The Work Look is going to take a short break, but we will see you in 2014 with our (drum roll please....) official launch!

Looking ahead....every new year brings with it endless possibilities.  I want to start out by saying THANK YOU for starting your new year with The Work Look.

My resolutions this year? To be a better me. Complain less, love more, be less OCD and let the chips fall as they may, work more passionately at the things I work at, and bring more amazing things to help inspire all the wonderful, driven, spirited professional women I know.

All the best to you for 2014 no matter where you are, what you do or what your own resolutions may be.

To the best year of our lives, so far.....
