While I realize that pencil skirts are not for everyone they are a great choice if they work for you. I think that they look chic and tailored at the worst of times. Any proportion on top works with pencil skirts, from a button down or a sweater, or even a sweatshirt, to a turtleneck or a tank, which takes the what do I wear with this, stare at your closet time, down to almost nothing. Everything looks instantly polished when paired with a pencil skirt.
Personally, I am particularly fond of pencil skirts as I have no hips. So, for me they are great for creating a more feminine silhouette. At the moment I am leaning towards the longer cuts, the high waisted pencils, as they tend to give you a longer, leaner silhouette.
