All work and no play......

So I realize my posts have not been as regular as I, or probably anyone else that wants to see The Work Look succeed would like; but, life happens, right?

So over the last year a lot of life has happened. I got pregnant, had a baby and am now back at work. I am trying to juggle it all and still keep my sanity.

Not making the time to cultivate and further my creative outlets has left my life lacking. I really love what The Work Look is. Of course it could be better.  Of course there are things I would like to change, when I have the time. Regardless it is still a wonderful outlet for me, and something that I think is missing out there in the blogosphere.

The Work Look is something I would like to spend more time on. So, bear with me. It won't be as frequent as I would like, surely, but The Work Look is not going away. This may mean more instagram posts, and things that require a little less time, but I am excited about where women are today in terms of their careers and advancement in the corporate space. I would like to think I am part of this conversation; I certainly want to be.

Thank you for continuing to visit The Work Look and I look forward to sharing more and interacting on a more personal level with all women who are inspired to do more and who inspire me to keep pushing on every front.

Cooler weather = coolER clothes

Looking to inject a little cool into your cooler weather wardrobe? How about a bit of inspiration from UK Vogue. Leave it to the Londoners to perfectly epitomize a casually cool, slightly androgynous, edgy, work vibe.

Summer and the livin is easy

It is summer and there is nothing I want more than to wear something that is just easy on a summer Friday. Here is some inspiration for totally work appropriate looks that are a little looser than your normal fare and yet perfect for a Friday lunch meeting. Thank you to UK Vogue for the inspiration, via Visual Optimism

Hitchcock inspiration. Gets me everytime

This is the latest ad campaign from Watches of Switzerland, a luxury retailer of new and preowned swiss watches. This is their first ad campaign in 30 years and I have to say, well done chaps, well done.

I walk by the ads on the tube platforms and from the very moment I saw them they caught my attention. I love Hitchcock, and the Hitchock woman and the subtly of this campaign nails it on the head for me and makes me want to channel the same look (without the birds of course) for work. Inspiration is everywhere.

World Cup inspiration for the office

I am not a sports fan per se, but I have to say that I do really like the World Cup. I love seeing everyone root for their country . I love the idea of people coming together across the world, for a month full of highs, lows, and shared experiences.

Thank you to Brazil's Marie Claire June 2014 issue, which I am sure was inspired by many of the same ideas around the World Cup, the celebration of all the teams, countries and passionate people. Thank you as well to Vanity Fair's Italia April 2014 issue for the gorgeous images and inspiration through color and prints.

Cultures coming together, whether through 'football' or fashion is always a good thing.

suiting up. More Latin styled inspiration

How do you make your work look yours? This spread from Harper's Bazaar, Spain, is the perfect inspiration. Dark lipstick looks professional, stacked rings with an open toe, block heel works sensationally, and finally sheer fabrics with a boucle style jacket are pitch perfect. Thinking outside of the box should always be rewarded.

T minus 3 days till I am back in the work place and I am already thinking about my first Friday.

I just know the first week will be a big readjustment. Inevitably I won't be able to fall asleep on Sunday night. The rest of the first week I will be in the process of readjusting the sleeping habits that I have developed over the past 9 months which did not necessitate me waking up at 5.30am.

With that in mind I am thinking about jeans, BLUE jeans for casual Fridays. I am not entirely certain that jeans will be allowed on Fridays at my new job so for now I am just getting excited about blue. Some great inspiration here on how to work blue into your work wardrobe, and if I am lucky enough to have casual Friday's how I can work some blue jeans into that look as well without looking sloppy or too casual. I am thinking I may need a light blue blazer to pair with some dark blue jeans...
